Cricket Changing Rooms

Cricket asks different questions of a changing facility: home and away dressing rooms, space for umpires and scorers, tea facilities, and a building that suits the setting of a cricket ground. Our modular cricket pavilions and changing rooms answer all of them at a fraction of the cost of a brick build.

What a Cricket Club Needs

  • Two team changing rooms with showers and toilets, sized for squads of 11 to 13.
  • A separate officials’ room for umpires and scorers with its own facilities.
  • Optionally, a canteen or social space for teas and club events, turning the building into a true pavilion.
  • Timber cladding options that sit naturally beside a cricket field, or low maintenance steel in any colour.

ECB Pavilion Requirements

ECB and Sport England pavilion guidance sets out clear numbers for cricket changing rooms, and our layouts are specified to meet them:

Changing room sizeMinimum 15 square metres of changing space per team room for cricket
Benching500mm of bench length per player at a minimum depth of 450mm. Corner benching loses two changing spaces, so straight bench runs are preferred
Bag storageAllow at least 1.2 square metres per player where players bring kit bags, and more where kit boxes (“coffins”) are stored. We fit storage beneath benching and can add dedicated kit storage space
ShowersOne shower point for every three to four changing spaces, with outlets at 750mm intervals and 450mm to 500mm clearance at end walls
Umpires and scorersA separate officials’ room with its own shower, WC and changing space
First aidA physio treatment and first aid room is recommended, which can double with the officials’ room in smaller pavilions
AccessibilityAccessible toilets and changing provision for buildings in public use

Guidance is updated from time to time, so we confirm the current ECB requirements for your level when we prepare your quotation, and funders such as the ECB county grant schemes will expect the drawings to show compliance. We build all of this into your floor plan at no cost.

Layouts That Suit Cricket

Every layout adapts: many cricket clubs add an umpires’ room to a 2-team plan or extend the canteen for teas. Browse the full range.

Funding a Cricket Pavilion

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a cricket changing room or pavilion cost?

A 2-team changing room with officials’ rooms starts at £53,000 ex VAT. Pavilion-style buildings with a clubhouse, kitchen and canteen run £166,500 to £186,250 ex VAT. See our cost guide for full ranges.

What size changing rooms does a cricket club need?

Cricket squads with 11 players plus scorers and officials typically need at least 18 square metres of changing space per team room, and most clubs add a social area. We design to ECB facility guidance for your level and adapt any floor plan to suit.

Can we get the building installed before the season starts?

Manufacture takes 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation, and installation takes days. Order in autumn or early winter and the building is ready before the April season, with groundworks done over the closed season.

What groundworks and services are needed?

A level foundation, typically concrete pads or a slab, plus water, drainage and electrical connections. We provide a foundation specification for your chosen plan and your groundworker builds to it before delivery.

Do cricket pavilions need planning permission?

Usually yes, as they are permanent buildings, though some recreation grounds have permitted development rights. We supply planning drawings at no cost; confirm with your local planning authority before ordering.

What funding is available for cricket clubs?

ECB county grant schemes, Sport England, council and lottery funding all support changing room projects. We provide the drawings and formal written quotations your application needs at no cost. Start with our free fundraising pack.
