FA Ground Grading Requirements
The FA’s stadium accreditation criteria for the National League System set specific standards for dressing rooms, and they are strict about new buildings. The key requirements our football layouts are designed around:

Grading criteria are updated each season, so we confirm the current requirements for the step your club is targeting when we prepare your quotation, and we design promotion headroom in from the start so one promotion does not mean a new building. The Football Foundation, backed by the Premier League, the FA and Government, funds grassroots facilities, and applications go through your County FA. An FA-compliant 2-team building with officials’ rooms typically runs £53,000 to £130,250 ex VAT depending on size and specification, and 4-team complexes with a clubhouse reach £260,500 ex VAT. What size does an FA-compliant changing room need to be?
New changing rooms must provide at least 18 square metres of changing space per team room, excluding showers, toilets and corridors, plus separate match officials’ rooms of at least 6 square metres. Our FA layouts such as SCR19 are designed around these figures.
How long does a football changing room take?
Manufacture takes 8 to 12 weeks from order confirmation, then delivery and installation take days rather than weeks. Add a few months up front if you are applying for Football Foundation funding or need planning permission.
What foundations does the building need?
A level base: typically concrete pads, strip foundations or a slab, with water, drainage and electricity brought to the building. We supply a foundation specification for your chosen plan and your local groundworker builds to it.
Do football changing rooms need planning permission?
Usually yes, because they are permanent buildings. Some sites have permitted development rights. We supply planning drawings at no cost and advise on what applies; always confirm with your local planning authority.
